By that I mean, are we tired of sifting through the endless volumes equip that pretty much only exist to clutter the screen and dump onto merchants? Because I am. In this article, I talk about my major issues with the incrementally differentiated wave of negligible content called Loot: how it wastes player time, impacts game design, and could possibly be improved for games in the future.

The hottest new method for AAA games to monetize their products is, predictably, a load of nasty garbage. It forces players to make a psychological wager against the amount of fun they have, should they want to pay only the base price for a game. It’s pure greed at the cost of a hassle free gaming experience. Sometimes they are worse than others, but the whole idea is founded on a drive to rob the consumer of all their money without having to substantially earn it. I go into serious detail in this article.

While just as fun as its predecessor, it is really unfortunate how many other issues make this a difficult review. In short, I felt like the story failed to measure up to its source material. The cynical business model also soured me to the experience, making me question exactly how the game was hindered by its inclusion.
