This and Jordan Peele’s Get Out tells me that sometimes terrifying ideas need to crawl out of the minds of comedy actors. An entire movie about needing to stay silent feels like what happens when John Krasinski acts on his worst parenting fears: what if I REALLY needed to keep my kids quiet? The answer to that question turned out to be an excellent horror film about a family hiding from monsters that hunt by sound. With the deft application of tension and one of the most imaginative premises in years, A Quiet Place is not a film to be silent about.
